Here, Macbeth is being optimistic, talking about how time never stops moving, and every bad day will eventually finish, hopefully moving on to a better day. The two men he has called for enter they are sworn enemies of Banquo, and Macbeth brings them to agree to murder the man, explaining that he cannot do it openly himself. As he waits for them, he ruminates on the same subject as Banquo, the insufferable idea that Banquo’s sons, not his, will succeed to the throne, and that therefore Macbeth has damned himself for Banquo’s good.
MACBETH ACT 1 SCENE 3 UPDATE
In the first part of Scene 3, the witches update each other on what they have been doing. This is explained in detail in our detailed analysis of Act 1, Scene 1. Again, we have the presence of witches and thunder - signs of danger. Macbeth dismisses everyone, and calls for some men he spoke to the day before. In Scene 3 of Act 1 in Shakespeare's Macbeth, we are back with the witches that we met in Scene 1. Macbeth enters with his train and invites Banquo to a feast that evening Banquo says he will spend the time till then going for a ride with Fleance. But he cannot forget the part about his own sons becoming kings rather than Macbeth’s.
